3 people died and 7 became ill after eating blue bell due to the bacteria listeria being found in several machines. Most people’s immune systems shrugged it off but people with compromised immune systems (birth defects or diseases such as HIV) could become seriously ill or in this case die as a result of it.

Damn, that’s crazy that it happened, I’m glad I know not to buy them now.

The second it became clear that Blue Bell was the source, they voluntarily shut down their facilities and recalled EVERYTHING they currently had on the market, around 8 million gallons of ice cream.

They tested, disassembled and thoroughly sterilized, then retested their manufacturing equipment. At least one major piece of equipment was thrown away, presumably because they couldn’t guarantee it was safe.

They tracked down the source of the “outbreak” and submitted a root cause analysis (with some info redacted here) to the FDA. And then they slowly started manufacturing again, releasing a few flavors at a time, testing each shipment before sending them out.

This happened over a year ago. They’re still recovering.

They threw away MILLIONS OF DOLLARS to keep people safe instead of, you know, trying to keep everything under wraps. (Honestly the tagline here should be “We Scare Because We Care” or somethin.) Blue Bell is a fricken solid and honest company.

So, yeah, enjoy your ice cream! ALL OF BLUE BELL IS DOING EVERYTHING PHYSICALLY POSSIBLE TO KEEP IT SAFE AND DELICIOUS.

Former storyboarder and artist on the Crewniverse Jesse Zuke (Formerly known as Lauren Zuke when with the Crew) is currently facing severe financial troubles due to them not being able to work as an animator anymore due to serious mental ailments. They are currently facing eviction from the apartment at the risk of being homeless and without a job. Luckily, their gofundme page has already raised enough money to pay off one month. However, almost the entire fandom still is not aware of Zuke’s current situation. Let’s give them all the support and spread the awareness!

I could say a lot of things right now but in the end, this is just really fucking important.

The fandom should be ashamed of what they did to Zuke, regardless of your personal feelings towards their opinions and work they did not deserve what happened to them.

So maybe give back a little/share if you can, because we owe a lot of what Lapis, Peridot and just the show in general are today to them.

Helping Zuke is the least we can do after what the fandom did to them to be honest

In case anyone needs a summary of what happened. Some crazy shippers targeted Zuke especially after the episode Barn mates for supposedly pushing her own Lapidot agenda in the show instead of Amedot (as if one person could write these characters anyway they want and not as a group decision by the crewniverse) and started some insane rumors with fake screen shots, quotes, etc. Terrible harrassment followed Zuke including death threats leading them to quit the show quit animation and deactivate all social media. Now they can no longer animate without dealing with the mental health problems made worse by this harassment and thus are out of work and need help from us. This is the worst thing I think happened in this fandom, the reason I (and many others) left it for a good while because I was so disgusted by some of you guys (that still go on to cause uneccisary drama and unhealthy shipping wars) Many of the crewniverse themselves have also have distanced themselves from tumblr for this toxicity too. So if we as a fandom can help Zuke and make up for even just a little of what we’ve done. Then I ask that you at least reblog even if they’ve already made their goal.
